Dear Parent/Guardian,
JOINTLY DEVELOPED
The, Thomas G. Morton School, and parents of students participating in activities, services and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act(ESSA) agree that this compact outlines how parents , the entire school staff, community and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the Common Core Standards. Parents are encouraged to attend the annual revision meeting held in the Spring of each year to review the compact and make suggestions based on the needs of the students and school improvement goals.Parents are encouraged to to participate in School Family Encouragement survey that is also used as a tool to collect parent feedback regarding the current Title I programs, policies and family engagement. During a meeting held on 4/18/24 this document was agreed upon with parents. This School-Parent Compact is effective during the school year FY 2024-2025.
To understand how working together can benefit your child, it is first important to understand the district’s and school’s goals for student academic achievement.
Morton Elementary School GOALS
At least 70% of kindergarten students and 50% of 1st and 2nd grade students will score at target by the Spring
Aim’s Web assessment.
2. No more than 25% of 3rd grade students will score below basic on the 3rd grade PSSA-ELA assessment.
3. No more than 20% of students in grades 3-5 will score below basic on the Math PSSA assessment.
4. At least 60% of kindergarten students and 75% of 1st and 2nd grade students will make vat least one years worth
of growth, as evidenced by their independent reading level from quarter 1 to quarter 4.
5. At least 50% of students will attend 95% of the days or more as evidence by Qlik.
6. At least 90% of students will have 0 out of school suspensions, as evidence by Qlik.
To help your child meet the district and school goals, the school, you, and your child will work together:
SCHOOL/TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Morton Elementary School will:
Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the
participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards.
Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s
achievement.
Provide parents with frequent reports on their child’s progress.
Provide parents reasonable access to staff.
Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom
activities.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
We, as parents, will
Make sure homework is completed.
Monitor attendance.
Obtain necessary clearances.
Volunteer at my child’s school.
Monitor the amount of television and use of technology such as video games.
Participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my child’s education.
Promoting the positive use of my child’s extra curricular time.
Staying informed about my child’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school and or district either received by my child or by mail and responding as appropriate.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Do homework everyday and ask for help when needed.
Read at least 30 minutes every day outside of school time.
Give to my parents or guardian all notices and information received by me from my school everyday.
